It is located on the northern side of Kolbotnvannet, approximately thirteen kilometers south of the center of Oslo. Kolbotn Station on the Østfold Line was opened in 1895. Today, it takes about 15 minutes by train to reach Oslo city center, and there is also a bus connection to Oslo center (via Mosseveien). Kolbotn has around 6,000 inhabitants, while the larger Nordre Follo municipality covers an area of 200 square kilometers and has 58,000 inhabitants. In the center of Kolbotn, you will find the Kolben Culture and Activity Center, as well as Kolbotn Square, which is part of the "new Kolbotn center." Additionally, there are the Old Oppegård Town Hall, several commercial buildings, a gas station, schools, and a significant amount of residential areas. Kolbotn Church dates back to 1932.
