We went to Chartres and stayed at the Hotel & Spa Le Grand Monarque, which we review in this video. The hotel is right in the historical center of Chartres. It is on a broad square and is only a 5 minute walk from the ancient Cathedral and all of the shops and restaurants are even closer! See: https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/hote... Our room was small, but very fancy, comfortable and a great bed. The bathroom was long and yes, kind of weird. That was fine, even cool. The problem was the toilet itself was right up against a wall. So my legs had to be positioned off to the side. It was not a comfortable experience and I often opted for the lobby facilities. Which were, by the way, very clean and comfortable. We had one of the budget rooms for this establishment, so I can understand a bit, but that was the only negative really. The breakfast was great, hanging out in the lounge at night very relaxing and with good weather, the outdoor seating was excellent as well!
