In this video, I'll show you how I keep Colorado Potato Beetles from getting out of control in your garden. Potato beetles have 4 stages in their life cycle. The eggs, the larvae, the pupa, and the adults. Eliminating them at any stage of their life cycle is important. The egg masses are usually laid on the bottom side of the potato leaves. Those can my squashed as you see them. You can eliminate the small larvae in the same way. For large larvae, and adults, I like to put them in soapy water. If you eliminate them at any stage of their life cycle, you've done a lot to make sure they don't get out of control. Even getting rid of one female potato beetle can stop 500 eggs from being laid. If you do nothing, they can get out of control very quickly. For those who are inclined to spray insects, keep in mind that Colorado Potato Beetles are resistant to quite a few insecticides.
