London Bus Route 616, operated by Arriva London, runs between Edmonton Green and Winchmore Hill, via Cambridge Roundabout, Palmers Green and Southgate. Some people might think: how does this guy keep filming school buses? I won’t lie — I still have quite a few school bus route visuals sitting in my files! This is the third school bus route featured on my channel. Its main role is to serve The Latymer School, located near Edmonton Fire Station. My biggest impression of the route? Loud. Despite riding it multiple times, the noise levels never fail to impress… Now for what made this one special. The day I filmed this route was right after finishing Year 11, so after all that stress I headed straight to Edmonton Green to record the 616. One reason I really like this route is the double-deck hail-and-ride section, which is pretty rare and interesting to experience. I was also lucky enough to board an uncommon working — a diesel Enviro400 borrowed from route 275. At the time, I had no idea the route would later transfer operators. When the tender results came out, it genuinely surprised me, which is why I started riding the 616 more often. The drivers were always friendly too — many of them treated it just like a normal public service rather than a school-only route. On 6 February, I returned to Edmonton Green for the final day of Route 616 under Stagecoach operation, capturing its last moments in this rather unusual corner of North London. I even managed to catch the final 616 worked by E20HCT from route 20. Fun fact for the fleet nerds: the bus I filmed, 19871 (LX12 DAO), was the final Stagecoach vehicle to carry a 19xxx fleet number. The very next bus, LX12 DAU, restarted the numbering at 10101 — a quiet but symbolic end of an era. Now that the 616 is operated by Arriva, I’ll definitely be back to see how things have changed. But I’ve waffled enough — enjoy the video! Thank you Stagecoach London for operating Route 616 from 2021 to 2026. —————————————————— Here are my rates to the school route:(1 is worst and 10 is best)* School(s) served primarily: 1.
