Air Test (1) Air Leakage Rate Test -Shut off the engine. -Turn the ignition to on position Without starting the engine. -Fully apply the foot brake. -Release the parking brake. -Once the air gauge stabilizes, hold the foot brake down for one (1) minute. -Watch the air gauge and your watch to see if the air pressure drops more than then (3) PSI in one (1) minute or level specified by the manufacturer. (2) Low Air Pressure Warning -Without re-starting the engine, make sure the ignition is on. -Begin fanning off the air pressure by applying and releasing the foot brake. -The low air warning devices (buzzer & light) should activate above 55 psi or level specified by the manufacturer. (3) Emergency Brake Test -Continue to fan off the air pressure. -The parking brake (or emergency brake) valve should close (pop out) between 20 psi and 45 psi or level specified by the manufacturer. Note: The Parking Break and foot break/service break can be checked once you are ready to pull out of your site. (1) Parking Brake Check -Place foot on the foot brake pedal. -Check that the parking brake is on. -Shift into drive gear. Remove foot from the service brake pedal and accelerate slightly. -Verify the RV does not move. -Place foot back on the service brake pedal. -Shift back into neutral. (2) Service Brake/Foot Break Check -Place Foot on foot brake. -Push in on the parking brake knob to disengage the brake. -Place transmission into drive gear. -Allow the RV to roll forward and apply the foot break/service bread. RV should STOP! Air Brakes Pre-Trip Test Completed.
