In this orangutan video we catch up with Jingga the first-time mother Bornean Orangutan at Blackpool Zoo Jingga the orangutan is a YouTube sensation, she rose to fame after a video of her reacting to a magic trick went viral on YouTube. - Monkey Sees A Magic Trick On the 14th June 2023 she gave birth to a critically endangered Bornean baby orangutan, her first baby, a boy, was fathered by Kawan, who has recently moved to Blackpool Zoo in 2022 from Apenheul Zoo in the Netherlands, after the previous male, Ramon, did not produce any offspring with the female group at Blackpool Zoo Blackpool Zoo Baby Orangutan As Jingga is a first-time mother, she is very inexperienced and this shows in how she sometimes isn't as attentive to her baby as other experienced orangutan mums are However she is coping well with motherhood and the baby is feeding well The zoo keeper team confirmed that they have not had to intervene in the 3 months since the baby was born but have been and continue to constantly observe mum and baby closely We have noticed the bond seems to be greater between Jingga and her tiny baby than when we previously visited her The other orangutans at Blackpool Zoo are eager to meet and get closer to the baby as they have been observing Jingga and the baby from their separate enclosure This can be seen in an upcoming video of this visit but for now they have been kept separate from Jingga and the baby in fact Jingga gets very protective of baby, keeping him close to her when the other orangutans are watching them The baby boy orangutan still has no name and Blackpool Zoo have put out across social media a campaign, to give the public the opportunity to officially name him They have set up a JustGiving Page so people can donate and suggest a name, all proceeds will go to the The Orangutan Foundation - a charity that works tirelessly to save orangutans, by protecting their habitats, working with local communities and promoting research and education This is the first video in a series of Jingga and new baby update videos from this visit to Blackpool Zoo Enjoy watching Baby Orangutan Update - How Is Jingga Adjusting To Motherhood?
