While trying to better understand the characteristics of the Canon R50V (佳能R50V), we discovered a few more nitty gritty issues with this camera and the 14-30mm kit lens combo. 1) The optical image stabilisation on 14-30mm kit lens seem to be lacking in roll axis compensation 2) 14-30mm zoom range and field of view felt a bit too limited for a proper zoom movement shot. 3) Conducting further low light test to better understand this camera's noise response. As per our initial unboxing review impression • Canon R50v - Unbox, first impressions, foo... , we thought that staying at ISO3200 will be good for this camera's black level noise response, and anything more than ISO4000 feels too noisy for our liking. Youtube's compression appears to have eased off the black level noise, and perhaps we can reassess and consider bumping up to ISO6400 for low light test next time. We also need to disclaim that while we try to keep the post production workflow consistent, from camera footage to timeline to exporting to youtube, we tried to maintain in the H.265 HEVC domain. Once uploaded to youtube, we will not have any control of the compression or quality. Youtube's compression levelled out some of the more observable noise. What looked grainy and noisy in our post production monitor might have been smoothened out after our upload to the platform, but what we describe will still hold true as a reference. In a way, uploading to youtube as a platform will be more forgiving and noise problems will be less harsh.
