ROMP Bluegrass Festival is held in Owensboro, KY and is hosted by the International Bluegrass Music Museum. "ROMP" stands for "River of Music Party", or, "Right On My People", depending on who you ask. Kings Highway was the opening band on Thursday, June 27, 2013. This song, Down Home Girl by the Rolling Stones and written by Leiber / Butler, is one we learned recently and the audience seemed to have enjoyed our rendition. Zeb Hargis, on Rhythm Guitar, sang lead and his dad, Mark Hargis, on Mandolin, sang harmony with him. They are both from Henderson, KY Other band members are: Alex Colvin, Banjo, from Greensburg, KY, Mary Rachel Nalley, Fiddle, from Bowling Green, KY, Chris Armstrong, Lead Guitar, from Henderson, KY, and Richard Clark, Up-Right Bass, from Owensboro, KY. Kings Highway is, typically, a traditional sounding bluegrass band, although, we strayed away from that description with this more "New Grass" song. We hope you like it!
