INCREDIBLE KHORFAKKAN! (TOP ATTRACTIONS)

Khorfakkan is fantastic tourist destination. It's a beautiful city in the emirate of Sharjah on the east coast of the UAE. The word Khorfakkan means 'Creek of Two Jaws'. It is a popular tourist spot because of Khorfakkan beach and its water sport activities. Our first stop in Khorfakkan was at Al Rafisah Dam. The Al Rafisah Dam has a restaurant with lake views, a playground, and a place to rent kayaks and pedal boats. There are several places to sit and enjoy the lake views. On our way to Khorfakkan City, we came upon Najd al Maqsar. It is not far from Al Rafisah Dam. It is a 300 year old fortress located on top of the mountain. We had fun climbing the stairs to the top. From the top, there were great views of the mountains and surrounding area. Then we made our way to the Khorfakkan Corniche to see the amphitheater and waterfall. The Khorfakkan Amphitheater and Waterfall are new attractions that opened up in December 2020. The amphitheater was inspired by Roman architecture and can hold around 3,500 people. Next to the amphitheater is the 45 meter high man-made waterfall. We were able to walk in front of the waterfall and get a closer view. Our next destination was Khorfakkan Square. It has four fountains and a giant Mabkhara (traditional incense burner) in the middle of the roundabout. When driving around, we could smell the fragrance from the incense burner. The area also has a very nice park. From the park in Khorfakkan Square, you can see the Resistance Monument. It is located at the top of a hill overlooking Khorfakkan Square. The monument was made to honor those that resisted the Portuguese invasion that occurred in 1507. We drove up the road to get closer views of the monument and to get nice views of Khorfakkan Square. Our last stop of the day was at Al Rabi Tower. It is a historical landmark in Khorfakkan that was built in 1915 as part of Khorfakkan's defense network. It is also the starting and ending point for the Al Rabi hiking trail. We didn't do the hike, but we were still able to get amazing views of the city from Al Rabi Tower. We had a great time exploring the beautiful city of Khorfakkan. We also visited the Khorfakkan Beach, Hisn Khorfakkan, and Shees Park.
