Pam Friday is a mixed media painter. She welcomes BCA in her studio in Melbourne Florida. Since Kindergarten, Pam was supported by her teachers and parents and continually grew as an artist. She originally pursued sculpture as her main passion but changed route after painting a grand-scale mural under the direction of her African American professor. That same professor introduced her to the African geometric shapes and bold colors that define her style today. Pam recalls how juggling motherhood and her career made her put off painting constantly. She also shares the thrills of taking a year off to fully devote her time to painting, before having to go back to working to pay the bills. She then explores her different series, journaling paintings, geometric fantasy landscapes and curtain scenes. We then get a glimpse into her artistic process as she works on a collage painting inspired by Florida wildlife. In closing, she contrasts the difficulties of exhibiting in New York with the openness of Brevard's art scene, reminding us that this county is ripe of opportunities to show your art and connect. Find Pam Friday's art at the Galleria in Suntree, Viera, FL and also in venues that participate in Brevard Cultural Alliance's Program of Art in Public Places. / pamfridayart
