Defining Success: Does the U.S. Need an ‘End State’ for its China Policy?

Join the Freeman Chair in China Studies for the launch of a new report exploring whether the U.S. should more clearly define the end goals for its China policy. While some argue the U.S. should aim to "win" in the strategic competition against China, others advocate for a managed competition, avoiding conflict while strengthening the global rules-based order. This report advances the debate with contributions from over 20 leading experts on China and grand strategy, aiming to deepen discussion on how the U.S. should navigate an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape. This launch event will feature several report contributors, including Richard Fontaine, CEO of the Center for a New American Security; Rick Waters, Managing Director for China at the Eurasia Group; Yun Sun, Senior Fellow and Co-Director of the East Asia Program and Director of the China Program at the Stimson Center; and Manoj Kewalramani, Fellow-China Studies and Chairperson of the Indo-Pacific Studies Program at the Takshashila Institution.
