Temperatures will be near zero by Saturday morning with highs in the lower teens. A significant winter storm barrels through the Southern Plains and Mid-Mississippi Valley into Friday and Saturday. By Saturday night, snow showers slide into the area. The bulk of the snow arrives on Sunday with heavy snow at times. Travel will be very difficult. Avoid traveling on Sunday as fluffy snow will accumulate fast, and visibility will be low. A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for the weekend through Monday morning. Southern Ohio will see the brunt of the snow will totals over 8-12” with higher amounts possible. For Columbus and most of Central Ohio, we will receive 6” to 10” of snow. Again, locally higher amounts cannot be ruled out, especially as we get more data and finalize the track of this storm. Travel will still be difficult by Monday, even though the snow will be over. The snowpack will keep temperatures on the colder side. Highs will only reach the teens on Monday with overnight lows near or below zero! A cold front arrives by Wednesday, which could bring a few more snow showers. Otherwise, another blast of arctic air is expected with highs in the lower teens and overnight lows near or below zero.
