A destination with a traveling distance of 10.0 miles was chosen, and was over-shot by 0.3 miles. The reserve alarm went off at 40% capacity after a mile of turning around and heading back. Since I was "just cruising" (for the greatest range), the reserve alarm was not the "turn around" point. If I had been hauling ass, then the 40% reserve alarm warning would have been my turn-around point to "just cruise" home. My "cruising" speed is anywhere from 15-20 mph. On this trip I had hit the top-speed of 28mph once during a pretty boring section (between mile markers 6 and 7). I had also done a few sections of "carving" (which don't really show up in the video) and a total of 20-24 stop-and-go's. The total trip distance was 20.6 miles, but I had to push the skateboard 0.4 miles at the end of the ride. So I managed 20.2 miles on a single charge! The Commuter has a claimed range of 18-21 miles. Had I been heavier on the acceleration trigger (ridden on crappy pavement, or up and down hills) I would have seen something closer to the 18-mile range. Had I been even lighter on the acceleration trigger (not done any "carving", and had fewer stop-and-go's) I would have seen something closer to the 21-mile range. Just as with a gasoline vehicle, the "distance till empty" will vary depending on what kind of rider you are. But unlike a gasoline vehicle this thing is near silent, doesn't pollute the air, and costs only pennies to operate. Next time you are sitting at a red light in your ICE vehicle (internal combustion engine), dumping poisonous fumes and getting nowhere, think about how much more efficient an electric vehicle would be.
