Hi everyone. It’s Dr. Kim. Today we’re going to look over an open bite case accompanied with prognathic mandible. This is her extraoral photo. We can she the open bite, slightly shifted midline, and a prognathic mandible(lower jaw protruded compared to upper jaw); a open bite patient accompanied with prognathic mandible. There is a moderate crowding in upper jaw, and a little crowding in lower jaw. In this frontal and profile view picture we can see skeletal class 3 malocclusion and open bite. skeletal class 3 malocclusion states that the lower molar is protruded to the front side compared to the upper molar. For this patient skeletal class 3 malocclusion was quite severe. Can you see the gap about 5mm wide between her upper and lower front teeth? This is a typical image of patient with prognathic mandible open bite.
