#venice #italy #travel Join me on a tour in 4K of the Basilica della Salute, in Venice, Italy. The video includes its surroundings, ascending to its dome with some of the most spectacular views of Venice, specially of the Punta della Dogana. This was the first place I went to after arriving in Venice. I had booked a ticket from home to go up to its dome, from there it was my first look at Venice. From here you can see that the city is small, but compact, and is a real web of canals, bridges and narrow streets. This church captured the imagination of painters as diverse as Canaletto, Monet and Turner recreated this church in their style. Monet highlighted the orange and gold tones of its sunsets, as well as the reverberation of the water in its canals. Turner transferred the sonorous and taciturn tones of his London, which does not necessarily reflect the transparent atmosphere of Venice. And Canaletto highlighted the majesty of its magnificent buildings cloistered in the contours of its canals. La Salute was built, like the church of the Redeemer or that of San Rocco, because of the plague that decimated its population in 1630. On the afternoon of Sunday, October 1st, having just arrived in Venice from Florence, I headed to this church to visit it and climb its dome. This video is the result of that visit.
