We at The Line felt that it was important to sit down and talk about the issues people of colour face in our company and the animation industry in general. Being honest and open about our shortcomings and the work that still needs to be done. These last couple of weeks have been monumental in terms of learning about white privilege and the ingrained systemic racism that affects the lives of people of colour on a daily basis. There is so much work to be done, but to start the conversation, we opened the floor to Mohamed Fadera & Wesley Louis. In conversation with Tim McCourt and Bjorn Erik Aschim, Mo and Wesley share their firsthand experiences as black men in the animation community and the professional world. We touch upon what the industry can do, how important representation is in films & media and how the death of George Floyd and the outrage that followed has fuelled self-reflection, vulnerability and action. In the short term, we’ve decided to donate all the sales from our digital products sold this year to charitable organisations fighting against racism and inequality. You can help us support these organisations by purchasing digital products from The Line's Gumroad account https://gumroad.com/theline where you'll find digital artbooks and making-of videos from The Grand Mighty Piton. All the money from sales will go to 4-Front and Green and Black Cross. In the long term, we’ll be looking at how we as a company can be more inclusive and will update you on what we're planning to do to make a meaningful difference. We will continue to look for more organisations that are doing work in this area so we can offer support where it will make the most impact. Any suggestions please let us know in the comments! We hope you enjoy the conversation. We’re thinking about doing more of them, so if you’re interested please let us know in the comments. Change is coming Peace and love from your friends at The Line
