In the Naruto world, the Uchiha Massacre remains one of the most shocking moments in the entire history of the ninja world. In one night, one of the strongest clans to ever exist in the Naruto world and one of Konoha's four noble clans and co founder of the village, was wiped out by one of their own brethren, the thirteen year old prodigy Itachi Uchiha. In the Naruto fandom, the morality of Itachi Uchiha has been a hotly debated topic, with some disagreeing with his choice to go through with Danzo's decision to wipe out the Uchiha clan and spare Sasuke, going so far as to call him selfish for his decision, whereas others defend the choice stating that the Uchiha were always destined to fall and that they had crossed a line too big for them to continue to be allowed to exist, not at the expense of peace in the village. However, when we dive deeper into the circumstances surrounding the Uchiha massacre, look at the cultural significance behind what Itachi did, the cultural significance of him planning his own death at the hands of Sasuke, and what the true meaning behind restore the uchiha clan means, Itachi's decision to wipe out the clan becomes a lot more clearer, especially when you view what happened not through the scope of a western and likely Christian faith based viewer, but instead through the scope of Asian culture and feudal Japan, which Naruto as a series all too often will draw inspiration from.
