More details on www.JeffHaubrich.com LUVERNE, MN - A Rock County Deputy's relationship with a 16-year-old girl that included sex has cost him his badge. As part of a plea deal, 28-year-old Kyle Kreun pleaded guilty to neglect or endangerment of a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Vajgrt said Kreun's relationship with the 16 year old hurt her mental health and her reputation. Before handing down his sentence, Vajgrt said, "I hope you spend time looking in the mirror and thinking about that." With tears in his eyes, Kreun said, "I just want to say I'm sorry to the victim's family, to the community, and to my wife and kids." "It appeared that he was abusing his position, as the judge said. So he's out of that position and he has a further evaluation to make sure this type of thing doesn't happen again," Murray County Attorney Paul Malone said. Malone prosecuted the case instead of the Rock County Attorney to avoid a conflict of interest. Kreun will not have to register as a sex offender because Malone said the prosecution could not prove he had sex with the 16 year old while on duty. "The charges we felt we could prove, we charged him (with) and he pleaded guilty to those charges and the sentence seems to be consistent with what would normally be given," Malone said. Kreun and his wife did not want to comment after his sentencing and were not at their home later on. Verbrugge says people in the community have been supportive, but he knows there is some work left to do. "You don't expect law enforcement to be in this position because we're supposed to uphold the law," Verbrugge said. Kreun will begin his sentence no later than June 1.
