From participant, to coach, to team manager, to competition director, and games referee, Pat Andrews has been a part of London Youth Games for over 3 decades. Through her career she has supported thousands of disadvantaged young people - she began volunteering as an LYG coach for Waltham Forest in 1989 and has been with London Youth Games ever since. From a young age, sporting interests included hockey, netball and athletics, before turning her hand to javelin where she represented Essex and England. A shoulder injury forced her to retire from competitive sport - and look to coaching gymnastics and trampoline. After Pat’s help with the LYG33 residential trip this year - this year, she will be playing an even more active role in the delivery of the LYG programme, offering mentoring and continued support throughout the season.
