G Comp vs Mustang II Suspension | Best Autocross Suspension

This G-Comp Cobra Roadster kit car took home gold at LS Fest 2025, and we talked to Bill Schneider of Team Speedway about how this winner was built. The Speedway Motors R&D team thought there was an opportunity to test out a G-Comp suspension kit on an autocross car, and luckily Team Speedway had a Cobra body that would be perfect for this experiment after some work was done to make it race-ready. This G-Comp setup fit into the narrow 54-inch Cobra body with some modifications, and the universal versions can fit into a 62-inch width body like a Cadillac too. One of the benefits of the suspension pairing was that the tracks are so small and the turns are tighter, so having a narrow car with such good handling allows you to take better turn lines and shave distance and seconds off the run. You’re a lot more agile than a wider car can manage in this setting. Compared to a Mustang 2, which only has about two inches of vertical adjustment range, the G-Comp has more strength, a more rigid setup, and the technology behind the suspension is years ahead.
