WSP's Indigenous Specialist Services team engaged local artist Shane Youngberry, a Dharawal man from La Perouse, to design bespoke artwork for the Sydney office, including on the interconnecting staircase representing our industry and Indigenous connections to Country. The artwork is based on the views from the office to fresh and salt water and the many Gadigal totems and colours associated with that. Michael Hromek, WSP’s Technical Executive – Indigenous (Architecture), Design and Knowledge, said “Shane’s beautiful artwork on the central staircase brings Country right into the heart of the office and is already widely appreciated and praised by our people and visitors.” Indigenous artworks are also featured in meeting room glazing and across the workstation areas. Our key meeting rooms have been named with Aboriginal names of animals found in the local area. We look forward to welcoming our teams, clients and visitors into this new space so that we can work together to shape our future communities and create a more sustainable future.
