Journey to the Cross Judas Matthew 26:6-16 March 1, 2026 "Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, 'What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?' So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver." - Matthew 26:14-15 During this season of Lent, each Sunday we will study a different individual to contemplate our own need for repentance. This week is Judas, who holds up a mirror to our own sin of betrayal. Betrayal begins with an inward drift before the outward act. God invites us to repent from both inward drifts and outward acts of betrayal through confession. Throughout this week, meditate on and repeat this prayer of confession: Eternal God, whose covenant with us is never broken: We confess that we have failed to fulfill your will for us. We betray our neighbors, desert our friends, and run in fear when we should be loyal. Though you have bound yourself to us, we have not bound ourselves to you. God, have mercy on us weak and willful people. Lead us once again to your table, and unite us to Christ, who is the bread of life and the vine from which we grow in grace.
