Donald Trump took oath as the 47th President of the United States on Monday. In his inauguration speech, he spoke at great length about how he would make America great again. He also spoke about Panama, Mexico, China and the BRICS bloc. But his nearly 30-minute speech did not have a single mention of Africa. It did not refer to any African nation. Even at the ceremony, while foreign dignitaries were invited to attend the swearing-in, there was no African leader on the guest list. Africa, in general, has been low on the priority list for the U.S. With no mention or reference to Africa, concerns are growing about whether Trump 2.0 will be similar to his first tenure.
