In this video, I share my real-world experience using Ardent Gliss fishing line after nearly two years on the water. This line casts farther than braid, but it’s not perfect — here’s my honest take after using it for years. Gliss is different from traditional braid — it’s a non-woven, zero-stretch Dyneema line that’s incredibly thin and extremely smooth through the guides. I’ve used: 40 lb Gliss on baitcasters 24 lb Gliss on spinning gear 👍 What Gliss Does Really Well Zero stretch and very sensitive Extremely thin (much thinner than equivalent braid) Casts 20–30% farther than braid Very smooth, limp, and no memory Excellent for casting light lures long distances 👎 Downsides to Know Backlashes can be very difficult to remove More prone to wind knots than braid (especially on spinning gear) Line frays over time, especially near the lure Color fades faster than braid 🎣 My Take Gliss absolutely has a place in my lineup. When I’m throwing light jigs or finesse baits and want maximum casting distance, it’s hard to beat. You just have to accept the trade-offs in manageability and fraying.
