The room formerly knows as the room of doom has an alcove perfect for a sofa, even better a sofa bed so we have a comfy spot for guests when they stay over. I could buy a bed but if I build it myself I can make it fit the space perfectly. To make the build as simple as possible I used 3 types of timber. Planed planks of 64mm wide and 16mm thick for the frame, planed wood of 44mm wide and 16mm thick for the slats and 75mm square timber for the legs. You also need a saw, drill driver, sandpaper and wood glue. The build is pretty simple, I'm not given measurements as this bed is build so it fits in between the cupboards, for you it would be different. The piece you pull out is the size of a single mattress, 190 cm long. I used two small single mattresses, they are 75cm by 190cm. Two of these together make the bed King size 150cm wide, very comfy for guests! When you build the bed keep these measurements in mind. As you can see I got the mattresses wrong the first time round, I went for a cheap mattress from Amazon with good reviews, I didn't think that a sleeping mattress is of course different from a sitting on sofa mattress and it was way to soft. The next lot were firm foam mattresses that were way less high and perfect for having two stacked on top of each other. I keep the bedding under the bed frame so making the bed is super quick and easy. I love my build and hope you do to.
