The Bronze Age Collapse is familiar to most people, but did you know there's another collapse -like event that occurs in the 7th and 6th centuries? Today we're talking about a sixth century (B.C.) collapse. This was a time of the great empires of the late Iron Age - Assyria, Babylon, The Medes and Achaemenid Persia. But the areas on the periphery of these empires experienced collapse -like conditions. We argue this "imposed collapse" triggered responses to collapse throughout the Near Eastern world, especially in Judah where post-collapse narratives of collapse were developed during the formation of the Hebrew Bible.
