Serious Sam The Sequel is a wonderful homage and attempt to make a cherished sequel following the TSE game. Kind of a fans taking it in their own hands moment. This mod brings so much changes and improvements to the original TSE and Serious Engine 1.0 that it's a complete overhaul it feels like. Completely new weapons, game mechanics. alt fire, monsters, projectiles, models. It feels like they took the legitimate Third Encounter (pre-alpha Sam2) feel and planted it here. Nice. In my opinion I think with the knowledge of Classics - Sam3. This mod takes the best of all worlds and puts it all together in one. Here in this mod, fun is what matters and everything else goes out of the box. And it truly feels so especially with the new tools you have. Such as the rockets or the railgun. Very fun, sometimes feels unbalanced but absolutely love how it plays into everything. The game constantly feeds you with new monsters and scenarios, which is well... a lot to say is an understatement. It's like mental opened a portal and every single mob from every installment is pouring in doom style. By the end of this level there were so many different unique monsters and new abilities that it was almost like playing techno rave disco trying to avoid all projectiles lol. Ever since the DEMO it seems like most of the problems are addressed, the level designs have been addressed and the player has been provided with better resources. Nice. It seems like through every level there is even more improvement! Level I think, had several oversights near the end. The bosses very often step on some sloped landscape and end up 'sliding' (or rather catapulting) really quickly towards the player through the stairs so you have to quickly use serious bomb and other powerful weapons which quickly depletes. When the reptiloids or other big bosses get close, will instantly can one-hit you. Gives you like a min to 15 seconds or so to finish the big boss before It one punches you. Especially the final one. Plan the fight accordingly, Very RNG.
