In 2025, the National Disability Research Partnership (NDRP) funded fifteen disability-led research projects across Australia. Led by and with people with disability, these projects are building evidence and co-designing future research to drive change in safety, access and inclusion. This video highlights three projects: • Barriers Within Bars: Indigenous people with disability in prison Led by A/Prof. Sheelagh Daniels-Mayes (University of Melbourne), in partnership with AccessAble Braille Enterprises. • Sometimes I’m Too Safe: Exploring the dignity of risk Led by Prof. Rhonda Faragher (University of Queensland), in partnership with Down Syndrome Australia and Down Syndrome Queensland. • Reproductive Justice and Neurodivergence Led by Dr Jessica Moulton (University of Melbourne, in collaboration with UTS and UQ), in partnership with Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT, Sexual Health Quarters WA and Sexual Health Victoria. Featuring reflections from researchers and lived experience contributors including Alana Pettigrew, Ricki Spencer and Stefanie Dimov. As we move into February 2026, teams across Australia are preparing applications for the next NDRP funding round. The momentum is building. And this is just the beginning.
