Puerto Galera [and Anilao] used to be my home dive site when I first started diving in the early 2000s as it was closest to Metro Manila. It's been a long while so I was taken aback at how different PG is now. No longer the rugged, sleepy, dive town, it now has a board walk, even a Seattle's Best. Diving Verde Island will make you understand why it's called the Center of the Center of Marine Shorefish Biodiversity in the Coral Triangle. The VIP marine corridor houses over 300 coral species, underwater rock canyons and reef formations, and 60% of all known shore fish species in the world within a ten-kilometer area. This makes the VIP the most biodiverse marine habitat in the world, turning it comparable to no less than an Amazon of the oceans. Thanks Michelle for organizing.
