I’m back with an update on my 3D-printed SSR taillight ring project! This latest reprint includes a key improvement I made: an alignment/supporting ring to help center the piece properly in the taillight’s depression. I printed it face-down this time (with supports) to get a smoother, more even contoured surface, though I’ve gotta say, removing the supports was a pain. The ring thickness I tested at 3/32” feels strong enough for the tight clearances I need. Major lesson I learned: AI design assistance gave me incorrect dimensions and angles five times, so I had to verify everything manually in Fusion 360 myself. Despite the cold weather and several inches of snow/sleet we got, I’m planning to brave the elements to test-fit this prototype on my actual SSR. If it works, I’ll use this piece as my reference to finalize all the other body components that have been “close but not perfect” so far. Key improvements I made in this version: ∙ Added my alignment ring for proper centering ∙ Printed it face-down for better surface finish ∙ Verified the structural strength at a thinner profile ∙ Ready for my real-world fit test Stay tuned for my fit test results! And, if you don’t like what I’m doing, you don’t know Jack! 🤣😂🤣😂
