In this video I'm going to highlight some of the issues my wife and I are seeing with vision based traffic aware cruise control in our 2021 Model Y. Our car has about 8,000 miles on it and was delivered in May of 2021. If you aren't aware Tesla removed the forward radar on 2021 Model 3 and Y in favor of what was supposed to be a superior cruise control and autopilot system. In our time of ownership we have experienced numerous hard braking events in the day and night even more severe than shown. I'm highlighting the most consistently worst scenario with vision based cruise. This is driving at night with no lead car in open road. In this scenario you are going to see time after time vision based cruise either slow down 5-10mph when oncoming cars pass by or worst an audible beeping with even harder breaking. There is no message on the screen, just beeping. I really hated to make this video, overall we like our model Y. This is by far our major compliant with it. I think it is important for other prospective owners to understand what they are going to be dealing with if they are heavy cruise control users. At the time of ordering our car the vision based cruise had not yet been announced so we were expecting a similar experience to past Tesla's we've owned. After reaching out to Tesla we were disappointed to find out there was nothing wrong hardware wise or anything they were willing to do. You can pause the video and read their response. The state of vision based cruise is disappointing at best and unsafe at worst. Again, what I've shown in this video a daily experience. I hope Tesla can devote more energy to improving this feature. Currently, it doesn't meet the basic working standards of other manufacturers cruise controls or even Tesla's older models. I'm interested to hear what other Tesla owners are experiencing. Are you having this issue as well?
