I bought it used and I actually didn't notice that the AC wasn't working because this car wasn't driven much. And it was only about 3 years old when I got it. When I turn on the AC it just blows warm air even with the temperature set to the lowest setting. It's definitely a problem in the winter when the windows fog up. But in the summer heat, it's super uncomfortable to drive. After doing some research it appears this is a known problem with 10th generation Honda Civics. This car uses a high pressure coolant called R-1234yf that they found causes damage to parts of the AC system... affecting 2016 up to 2022 model years. Under the hood, I can confirm my car uses the R-1234yf coolant. The good news is that Honda extended the condenser warranty to 10 years from the date of purchase. And this applies to 10th generation Civics. I scheduled an appointment at the Honda dealer hoping to get this fixed for free. After it was inspected, they confirmed the condenser was the problem and the repair was covered under the warranty. They inspected the AC system and found leaks in the condenser due to an internal failure. And here are the parts they replaced. There's the condenser, a few O-rings and a refill of the R-1234yf coolant. Plus they had to remove the bumper to do the repair. But under the extended warranty, I got this done all for free. So if you have a 10th generation Honda Civic with AC that isn't working... I recommend you call the dealer immediately and get it checked out before the 10 year warranty extension expires. I've heard the cost of this repair can be up to $3000. But I'm glad I didn't have to pay that. One last note. I did have to approve a $135 diagnostic fee before they started working on my car. But that fee was waived because the repair was covered under the warranty. Now I can enjoy driving my Civic when it's really hot out.
