When I released my covers a year and a half ago, I genuinely thought we would never get a dub. It seemed too niche. Too important to only a specific community I'm proud to be part of. On my videos I received message after message expressing how much y'all hoped that I would be Mafuyu one day. Honestly, I just wanted the chance to audition for the show and would have been happy to be part of it in any way. So imagine my surprise when I started recording on it as Mafuyu earlier this year! Even now, I keep asking myself, "Is this real? Did this actually happen? Is there REALLY a dub?!?!" Thank you all so much for your support and your kindness. After watching the movie, I felt like this song represented Mafuyu having actually processed his past with Yuki to some level, enough to start writing lyrics about the people around him. About the rocky relationship between Akihiko and Ugetsu, and how our closeness with people can shift in so many different ways as time passes, as the seasons change. I hope you enjoy my adaptation of Yoru Ga Akeru.
