Generation 4 (and 3) added many new mechanics since Gold, Silver, and Crystal came out which shook up the strength and viability of many Pokemon species in battle. Layer on top the quality of life changes, Pokeathlon dome, renovated gyms, and safari zone, and you have some of the best remakes of ANY game! HeartGold and SoulSilver are full of content both old and new, and they’re ALMOST perfect rereleases for games I personally grew up loving. I go over HGSS’s improvements and its (few) flaws in this retrospective analysis. This game was VERY full of content, so sorry that this video took so long to get out! The good news is part 2 is already filmed--I realized i'd need 2 videos only after I had scripted through Clair and realized I was at an hour+ of content.
