How to Cut a Stylish 6-Piece Flare Dress with Draped Sleeves Materials Needed Fabric Lining Measuring tape Chalk Pattern paper Scissors Pins Step 1: Take Body Measurements Measure the following: Bust Waist Hip Shoulder Sleeve length Dress length Armhole round Step 2: Draft the Basic Bodice Fold your pattern paper. Mark the shoulder line. Drop the armhole depth (Bust ÷ 4 + 1.5 inches ease). Mark the bust line, waist line, and hip line. Shape the armhole and neckline. Add a bust dart or princess shaping if needed. Step 3: Convert to 6-Piece Panels To create the six panels: Front: Divide the front bodice into three sections: Center front panel Side front panels (left & right) Back: 2. Divide the back bodice into three panels: Center back panel Two side back panels Cut along these lines to separate the panels. Step 4: Add the Flare From the hip line downward, slash each panel vertically. Spread each panel 2–4 inches at the hem. Redraw the hemline smoothly. This creates the flare shape at the bottom. Step 5: Cut the Fabric Place each panel on folded fabric. Add 1–1.5 inches seam allowance. Cut: 3 front panels 3 back panels Step 6: Draft the Draped Sleeve Start with a basic sleeve pattern. Extend the sleeve length to elbow or wrist. Slash the sleeve vertically 3–5 times. Spread the pieces 2–3 inches each to create fullness. Redraw the sleeve cap. The extra fullness will create the soft draping effect. Step 7: Sewing Join the front panels together. Join the back panels together. Sew front to back at the side seams. Attach the draped sleeves. Fix zipper at the back. Hem the flare neatly. #dresscutting #sewingtutorial #fashiondesign #flareddress #sixpiecedress #dresspattern #diydress #howtocutadress #dresssewingtutorial #fashiondesigner #dressmaking #drapedsleeve #flaredgown #sewingforbeginners #sewingclass #fashiontutorial #stylishdress #dresscuttingandstitching #sewingtips #patternmaking #tailoringtutorial #fashionsewing #diyfashion #dressdesign #sewingyoutube
