Summary: In this cohort study, 23 patients with chronic gastrointestinal fistula underwent a novel endoscopic closure technique combining endoscopic submucosal dissection of the mucosa surrounding the fistula orifice, followed by clip closure. The authors achieved 83% immediate closure and 61% longterm closure, which confirmed feasibility of the technique. Further follow-up will be necessary, as long-term closure remains a challenge.
