Shop Rolex Hulk watches here https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex/sub... The Rolex “Hulk” belongs to a particularly interesting pantheon of timepieces developed for diving enthusiasts – the Submariner. To understand how the Rolex “Hulk” watch became one of the most famous and sought-after iterations within the Submariner line, it’s important to look at the evolution of Rolex’s first dive watch. You can check out more Rolex Submariner watches here: http://bobswatches.com/rolex-submarin... The Submariner collection launched in 1953. The professional dive watch set benchmarks within the industry being the first to offer 100-meter water resistance. It featured an innovative 60-minute diver’s scale atop of an aluminum bezel measuring 40mm in diameter, Mercedes hands, and an Oyster bracelet. An easily readable dial made the Submariner watch an indispensable tool for venturing down to daring depths of the ocean with, plus the accents on the dial and bezel were lume-coated to improve legibility in dark conditions. By the time the Rolex Hulk ref. 116610LV launched, the style of the Submariner had undergone some subtle changes that would improve its ability to face extreme conditions underwater. It also took on a more modern design, creating a powerful and attention-demanding presence on the wrist. A date was added to the dial of the Submariner back in the ’60s in the form of the model ref: 1680. Soon after, a sapphire crystal glass lens was added, along with an improved water resistance of 300 meters. The Rolex Submariner ref: 16800 was produced for a decade and still remains one of the most affordable investment options on the pre-owned Rolex market. Rolex also chose to upgrade the Submariner’s engine with a higher beat movement. The Calibre 3035 with a quick-set date performed at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour, providing a 50-hour power reserve. When the Rolex Submariner ref: 16610 came along towards the end of the 1980s, Rolex had again changed the movement to the new and improved Calibre 3135, which went on to power the Rolex ref: 16610LV “Kermit” watch with a classic black dial and a bright green unidirectional rotating bezel. The model marked the 50th anniversary of the Submariner, and up until this point was the only stainless steel model to feature a bezel color other than black. The material offered a lustrous, more resilient finish than aluminum, promising longer-lasting color. The Hulk’s engraved 60-minute diver’s scale is filled with platinum and boasts a deeply notched edge that serves as a grip-enhancer for operating the bezel under heavy diving gear. The Rolex “Hulk” features a ‘Maxi’ dial with chunkier central hands and larger hour markers trimmed in 18k white gold and treated with Chromalight. For some, the emission of the Hulk’s bright, longer-lasting blue color made for an attractive upgrade from the greener luminescent material used in previous Rolex Submariner models. The Rolex Hulk also boasts the brand’s ‘Super Case’. Although retaining the same 40mm diameter, the case is developed with a thicker crown guard and lugs, despite a relatively slim case measuring a 12mm depth. The Oyster bracelet on the Hulk ref: 116610LV is made from the brand’s 904L-grade Oystersteel with a machined Oysterlock clasp. Its solid end and central links provide a more substantial feel on the wrist. The bracelet’s innovative Glidelock system enables the length of the bracelet to be adjusted to a total length of 20mm in 2mm increments, fitting over the top of a wetsuit easily without the need for tools. With a more angular and contemporary profile, the Rolex Hulk ref: 116610LV can be utilized both offshore and on dry land. Its universally appealing design perfectly balances form and function. Priced at $9,350, the iconic green Submariner will always be loved for its bold leap away from its traditional black steel sibling, and still has a multi-year waiting list at official Rolex stores. If you can’t wait that long, premium prices start at anywhere between $13,000 and £15,000 on the pre-owned market depending on the overall condition and age of the watch.
