Lauren got a Circus Gear Aerial Rig! We were super excited to have a nice weekend where we could set the rig up. This is a unboxing video of the Circus Gear rig, and we talk about what we noticed compared to other rigs we have experience with (Ludwig and Boswell rigs). Over all, we think this is one of the best rigs money can buy in regards to portability, setup, and specifications! One of the best aerial rigs at home. Lauren is an experienced aerialist, She's performed professionally and she's also completed the Paper Doll Militia teacher training for aerials. Her inspirations are Molly Graves, PJ Perry, and Sabine Van Rensburg. You can catch her training at Esh Circus Arts in Somerville, MA. She also takes intensives at NECCA! A couple additional things we noticed with this rig (post video) is that the aluminum made our hands feel very dry after setting it up/taking down. This could be due to small shavings of aluminum from the manufacturing process and might be less noticeable over time. Another thing Lauren pointed out was that at max height you need to be mindful of the poles as the rig's small footprint makes the legs get narrow at the top. This means less space for windmills and other movements that require full range of motion! As someone who has read several books on rigging, used Delbert Hall's rigging workbook, and have taken some courses by Craig Lewis. Something I have wondered about ALL aerial rigs is why don't manufacturers include a rigging log template for tracking maintenance and logging that inspections for when the rig is set up/taken down? I'm assuming this could be for legal reasons, but I think that creating a rigging template that could be sold separately could be beneficial to all aerialists. Especially for people who plan to rent out their rig to reputable/trusted individuals or companies.
