Firefly Metals Ltd managing director Steve Parsons talked with Proactive about the company’s encouraging results from first-pass drilling at the historical Rambler Main Mine, part of the Green Bay Copper-Gold Project in Newfoundland, Canada. Parsons outlined that the program has intersected high-grade mineralisation featuring gold, copper, zinc, and silver. “We’ve hit very high grade gold and copper, with a bit of zinc and silver in there as well,” he said, describing intersections between 10 to 13 metres in true width, grading approximately 5–7% copper equivalent. The discovery is located just two kilometres from where Firefly intends to build its processing plant. Parsons noted that it is part of a regional exploration strategy aimed at expanding the existing resource base. The company has six underground drill rigs currently active at the site, focused on growing and upgrading the resource to measured and indicated categories, alongside one surface rig exploring new regional targets. The close proximity of the new mineralisation to planned infrastructure has prompted Firefly to consider deploying an additional rig to fast-track potential resource development at the site. Parsons indicated this was “only the first of several targets” near the mine that are being tested. Looking ahead, Parsons confirmed a steady news flow is anticipated, with updates expected every two to three weeks. Near-term releases will include further results from infill and step-out drilling, as well as continued regional and satellite target exploration.
