Written in a similar vein to the popular song "The People of Yanbian Love Chairman Mao", this song was written to express the people of Yanbian's support for Mao Zedong's successor, Hua Guofeng. Songs such as these from the Hua era tended to continue the themes of those from the Mao era, even railing against revisionism and extolling the Cultural Revolution. Initially the uncontested leader of the country as per the Two Resolutions of the Central Committee which designated him as Mao's successor, Hua would slowly be outmanoeuvred by Deng Xiaoping's faction in the Party and he and his allies would eventually be removed from positions of power altogether.
