2 Minute Cataract Removal: Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery MSICS at eye camp, Punjab, India

MSICS being performed at an eye camp by Dr Jacob Prabhakar and his team from Ruby Nelson Memorial Hospital of Seventh-Day Adventists, Jalandhar, India. At this eye camp, over 300 patients were seen presenting with various eye conditions and over 100 were operated on for free for cataracts and pterygiums. Such eye camps are carried out weekly in various parts of India by the RNMH and as a result of their efforts, 8000-10000 patients receive renewed eyesight every year. Patients are extremely poor and many present with very late-stage disease. The conversations you hear in the background are volunteers from the Hindu temple where the eye camp was held, who are ushering patients into the operating theatre.
