I cant believe it here and making a huge comeback! The best multiplayer game franchise brings us back together for this latest installment. Borderlands 4 is a 2025 action role-playing first-person looter shooter developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K, serving as the fifth main entry in the Borderlands series and a direct sequel to Borderlands 3. The game was released on September 12, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S, with a release for Nintendo Switch 2 scheduled for October 3, 2025. Set on the war-torn planet Kairos, six years after the moon Elpis was teleported into orbit, the story follows a new generation of Vault Hunters who must lead a resistance against the planet's ruthless dictator, the Timekeeper, and his synthetic army. The Vault Hunters, including Vex the Siren, Harlowe the Gravitar, Rafa the Exo-Soldier, and Amon the Forgeknight, work to gather allies and collect command bolts from the Timekeeper's lieutenants to gain access to the planet's Vault. The game features a seamless world with no loading screens, new traversal mechanics like a grappling hook, and the ability to play solo or cooperatively with up to three other players. It introduces significant gameplay changes, including guns that can have parts from multiple manufacturers (Maliwan, Torgue, Hyperion, etc.), larger skill trees with augments, and the ability to fully replay missions and boss fights without needing to reload saves. The game has a darker tone compared to previous installments, with a focus on emergent humor derived from gameplay. The story culminates in the Vault Hunters defeating the Timekeeper, who is revealed to be a Vault Guardian, and opening the Kairos Vault, where they encounter a future version of Lilith who warns them of an impending end of the universe and gifts them a mysterious cube.
