Becoming an intern, for a congressman’s campaign is a rare honor, that gives you exposure to the real world of politics, and an opportunity to get a letter of recommendation for a sitting member of Congress. Both of those are incredibly valuable opportunities that will work wonders to help you get accepted to an Ivy League college. But most people don’t have a clue how to get that internship in the first place. So what I want you to do is draft a résumé and then reach out to the congressman’s office and ask to be connected to the chief of staff. It is illegal for most staffers to connect you to the campaign side, but the chief of staff is allowed.
