Movement is Medicine: Managing Peripheral Neuropathy

Educate and Empower Monthly Wellness Webinar Series: January 2024 Do you experience pins and needles, pain, numbness or weakness in your feet, legs, or hands because of peripheral neuropathy? Join exercise physiologist Nancy Campbell to learn how simple exercises can help manage the challenges of peripheral neuropathy (PN). We will discuss different treatment strategies such as improving blood flow and movement, and learn how to incorporate these into our daily lives. If you struggle with PN in your feet, improving your balance will help reduce your risk of falling. Having stronger grip strength can make it easier to open jars and carry objects safely if you have PN in your hands. While everyone’s PN is different, and damaged nerves may not be able to recover, research shows that an exercise regimen that incorporates strength and balance may help improve symptoms. Come ready to both learn and do – wear comfortable clothing that you can move in and bring water to stay hydrated. No other equipment is needed, beyond a chair to sit in. Q+A: have all your movement-related PN questions ready for Nancy. Nancy Campbell, MS is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist in the Zakim Center for Integrative Therapies and Healthy Living at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA.
