Conversations in the Workroom - Eyeletting an 18th century replica of a pair of stays. Fancy chatting whilst sewing your own pair of stays? or whilst doing your own sewing? The idea behind these videos is just to film us talking about 18th century stuff/fashion/sewing, whilst working on whatever we're working on in the workshop. . And at the moment, the main sewing project on is to complete this pair of stays and the mantua gown that is going to accompany it. So..... with all the boning done of the panels (finally!).... and poised to begin to join the panels together, I suddenly remembered that it's easier to do the eyelets while the panels are still apart. SO this is where we are with this video. (PS: This DOES NOT MEAN that this is how the original makers would have done it - by no means - it's just as I'm working on a replica I already know where the eyelets are going so it's just easier for me this way :). ) (Also PSS - I don't know why the close-ups are so blurry - I'm going to look into this issue next time I film....)
