Amidst the ongoing tensions between Iran and the US, the Middle East has been shaken by Iranian missile attacks. Meanwhile, the USS Gerald R. Ford smoldered in flames for nearly 30 hours, forcing 600 crew members to evacuate the ship. Concurrently, Iranian drone attacks have severely crippled the US AN/FPS-117 radar system stationed in Saudi Arabia. The attack on this radar has undermined Saudi Arabia's "Peace Shield" network and weakened the early warning capabilities against drone and cruise missile attacks across the entire Gulf region. According to reports, this powerful US radar was deployed at Al-Qaysumah Airport in Saudi Arabia, located in the northeastern part of the country. The damage to this radar will render its long-range detection sensor nodes inoperable, thereby creating a massive gap in surveillance coverage within the airspace of the Gulf region—an area considered to be strategically highly sensitive. This radar system is valued at approximately 14.5 million US dollars.
