Donal O'Connor: Musician and Composer from Boyle Donal (Donie) O'Connor is a respected singer-songwriter and folk musician based in Boyle, County Roscommon. The Boyle-based artist is celebrated for his original songwriting and long-standing contributions to the folk scene in North Roscommon and beyond. Career and Musical Style Donal spent most of his professional life working as an Environmental Health Officer. Despite his full-time career, he maintained a prolific presence in the music world, developing a reputation for capturing the "foibles of Irish life" through his lyrics. He has recorded three albums of original songs, including his first album It’s About Time and the more recent Black n Blue, which was launched via a concert at The Dock Theatre in 2021. He has toured extensively throughout the UK and Germany, with occasional performances in the USA, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand. His work has received high praise from contemporary Irish folk legends. Christy Moore described his debut album as "a pure joy, "This song is for my step-granddaughter.
