You might think one swordsman wouldn't stand a chance against 100 cops, but somehow, this man was able to hold off over 100 cops for over ELEVEN HOURS. In 1997, Tony Allison, a.ka. "Apollo" was carrying a sword on the streets of Seattle, and then an off-duty police officer initiated what would become the eleven-hour standoff. The officer called in backup, quickly summoning SWAT cars, additional police, fire trucks, and ambulances, and they all quickly surrounded Tony and his katana. This has got to be one of the most absurd police encounters of all time, and the police tactics used that day were wild. Special thanks to Ross at Seattle Public Library for helping me get access to the original 1997 reporting. This reporting revealed certain facts that were not available anywhere online—allowing me to verify the story details using official, primary sources. No other online coverage of this story has done this, so this video brings you the most accurate, firsthand account of what REALLY happened.
