More than 40 people were killed and hospitals in Peshawar were overwhelmed with more than 100 injured people. The blast comes as the Pakistan army plans a major offensive against al-Qaeda and Taliban strongholds in South Waziristan and a day after the Indian embassy in Afghanistan came under attack.
