Rumi – Whence Comes This Flame A mystical poem that burns with questions about love, division, and divine unity. Rumi wonders: If all hearts are one in love, why is there conflict? If souls are joined like a chain, why are doors between us closed? He seeks the truth not through intellect, but through divine intoxication — the wine of love that reveals what words cannot. 🎧 This is a musical interpretation of Rumi’s timeless wisdom — translated into clear, poetic English that touches the heart and awakens the soul. --- 🌹 English Translation From where arise these sparks in our midst? From where this smoke of passion and art? I have lost the thread of my own self — Whence come these clashing heads, these hearts apart? If your hearts were not divided so, Whence would these wounds of strife in me start? If we are joined like links of a chain, Whence comes this closing of door and heart? If not a hundred birds at odds are here, Whence this plucking of wings, this tearing apart? Cupbearer, bring the wine before me — It alone will tell from where all others start. And if you pour not a drop upon the earth, Then whence comes the earth’s tale of you, its part? --- ✨ Interpretation of the Poem In this poem, Rumi reflects on the inner conflicts that arise among people who are, in truth, parts of the same whole. He sees “sparks” and “smoke” — symbols of anger, ego, and false separation — and asks where they come from if all souls are one. He confesses that he has lost the thread of himself — meaning he can no longer find clarity amid the division of hearts. The “chain” represents the spiritual unity of humankind, yet despite being linked, we close our doors to each other. The “hundred birds” symbolize human souls — each fluttering in its own direction, unable to fly together toward truth. Finally, Rumi calls upon the Cupbearer (the divine spirit or God’s love) to bring the wine of awakening — the spiritual intoxication that reveals the source of all things. Only through that divine wine, not through reason, can one see that all division is illusion, and all hearts burn from the same flame. --- 🎙️ Poet: Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rumi (1207–1273) 🎵 Music & Voice: Poetry for Heart 💫 Subscribe for more mystical poetry of Rumi, Hafez, and other timeless Sufi masters. 🔔 Let your heart awaken — listen, feel, and become one with the words. — #Rumi #PoetryForHeart #SufiPoetry #MysticalPoem #RumiMusic #SpiritualPoetry #RumiTranslation #PersianPoetry #DivineLove #PoetryMusic #RumiQuotes #SoulAwakening #MeditativeMusic #RumiInterpretation #PoeticSoul
